Bronze sculpture is a bit different than other forms of art in that a mold is created of the original piece. Giving the artist the ability to cast several pieces of the nearly same piece for years into the future. Which is a good thing considering how much time and money goes into creating the original sculpture.
Several years ago I created this River Otter as part of a commissioned series for a public park. The project took me a couple of years to produced more than 20 different animals. I was extremely fortunate to have been given taxidermied animals from the park to work from and free rein in design.
Recently I entered five different animals including the otter into an international juried show and won 1st place in sculpture. Because of timing, entering shows is not something I have done much of. Guess I will be changing that! We all need our ego stroked, don’t we?
